Excerpts from "The Wanderer" August 15, 1996
"Adamec's firing of Msgr. Phillip Saylor as Pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in State College because he fired the janitor, "Buddy Rainelli. Saylor fired Rainelli, a drunk who was convicted and sentenced for murder-ing his first wife and severely beating his second wife, at the suggestion of local police, who advised Saylor that Rainelli should not be around children. Rainelli allegedly demanded that Adamec restore his job or he would expose the same sex dalliances of Adamec's personal secretary, Fr. Dennis Boggs, who was a resident priest at Our Lady of Victory before Saylor's arrival. Rainelli didn't get his job back, but did receive a settlement from the diocese."
The Moral of this story illustrates how the diocese has worked to cover-up it's priests problems at the expense of the laity. The man convicted of murdering his wife reportedly settled for over $100,000 dollars. The man alleged to have been an active homosexual became the Bishops personal secretary, promoted to monsignor and later to Chancellor. The priest who tried to due the right thing was transferred to a small parish and later silenced.
Note: Msgr. Saylor testified at the Luddy trial and his testimony contradicted others in the diocese. Some people feel he was the only truthful priest that took the stand.
