Victim Letter

When I see a picture like this I wonder why I am still a catholic. Back in 1964 when James Bunn was at St. xxxxx. The parish where we belonged in Johnstown, we befriended him and he started coming to our house very regularly. When I say regularly it could be 8:00 pm or 2:00 am in the morning any day of the week. My wife and I were very naïve in those days. We thought how wonderful to have a priest as a friend. Little did we know that he was taking complete advantage of us. When he would come to our house late at night to sleep because he would say he had too much to drink and didn't want to go to St. xxxxx, he would wait till we were asleep and go upstairs and sexually molest my 11 year old son. ( IN MY HOUSE WHILE MY WIFE AND I WERE ASLEEP)!! I had two younger sons, but he did not touch them. This lasted one year until he was transferred to Altoona in 1965. On occasion he would pay us a visit, and every time he came to the house he had a different boy with him. Like I said we were naïve and didn't know what was going on. It wasn't until 1982 that we found out what happened to our son. He was living in xxxx,xx and called my wife and I and said he wanted to see us. He told us the whole sordid story how Bunn would come to his bed late at night and sexually molest him. Bunn told my son that since priests are not allowed to marry that it was alright to do this, but he (my son) was not allowed to tell anyone, especially his parents what was going on. For years this preyed on my son's mind till he finally went to a psycologist for help. He spent thousands of dollars for medical help, plus he prays the rosary every day. He has never married. He is now xx yrs old. When my son told us back in 1982 what happened to him I was furious, but being the catholic that he is I had to promise him not to physically harm Bunn or press charges for he did not want the noteriaty. We did go to Bishop Hogan in 1982 with our attorney xxxx xxxxxx to have Bunn removed as principle of Bishop McCort, which Bishop Hogan did when Bunn confessed to him. Instead of sending Bunn somewhere for help which he really needed the Bishop merely shipped off Bunn to some distant parrish. How in God's name could a Bishop with any conscience send a sex offender to another parrish where he was capable of preying on other boys. God only knows how many other children Bunn contaminated. In the Bible it says that no man shall sleep with another man for this is an abomination. It was an abomination when the Bishop did what he did with Bunn. He should have been sent somewhere for much needed help.

I wrote this letter not cause I'm seeking some kind of monetary compensation but I wondered if you knew that you had a priest like Bunn still roaming the parishes. This is not some kind of crank letter, for you can contact my attorney xxxx xxxx at 1-814-xxx-xxxx to prove this.

I would appreciate a response from you to help heal the pain my wife and I go through, knowing what happened to our son.

I was told that I was too nice with my ending of this letter therefore I am demanding a response or a copy of this letter is going to the media. Although the statue of limitations has run out on Bunn, I think the people of this diocese has a right to know that a sex molester is still roaming through the parishes.
