11. Q. And with respect to Reverend Robert Kelly, at any
12. time since you have become Bishop of the Diocese of
13. Altoona-Johnstown up until today, have you investigated
14. allegations regarding sexual contact between him and a male
15. minor under the age of 18?
16. A. Alleged sexual contact, I have

16. Q. Did he indicate whether he was aware of whether
17. it had occurred with other boys and Reverend Kelly?
18. A. Did he indicate whether?
19. Q. Correct, that it had occurred with other boys
20. and Reverend Kelly?
21. MS. SWEENY: The same touching of the shoulders and
22. patting of the tummy?
23. Q. Any type of contact.
24. A He alleged that it did.

1. Q. How old was he at the time he called, did he
2. reveal that?
3. A. He may have. I don't recall exactly. I would
4. imagine in his 20's
5. Q. Can you tell us what other information he
6. Provided to you regarding Reverend Robert Kelly?
7. A. He didn't really provide any other information
8. except that Fr. Kelly was a frequent visitor at their
9. home on so his parents knew him and respected him.
10. Also, in terms of the other victims that he alleged
11. existed, I asked him to contact them since he knew who they
12. were, and they denied that anything occurred in their lives
13. with Father Kelly.
14. Q. When you say they denied that anything had
15. occurred, did you contact those individuals?
16. A. No I did not.
17. Q. Well, how is it -
18. A. Well because the alleged victim would have
19. certainly informed me of the same.
20. Q. Is it your testimony that you assumed that they
21. denied they had such contact with Reverend Kelly because
22. they never contacted you.
23. A. That's correct.
24. Q. But you never heard from them directly or from
25. him that they denied such contact, is that correct?

1. A. I 'm not sure whether, I'm presuming I heard from
2. him because of the various conversations that we had over
3. the phone and that they did not come forward. I believe
4. there was a case of one that actually wrote me a letter.
5. Q. One other one?
6. A. No, one of the ones that he was trying to
7. encourage to state that they had these types of liaisons.
8. Q. Did these other individuals write to you directly?
9. A. That's correct.
10. Q. What did the other individuals indicate?
11. A. I don't know if there were 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. I
12. have no idea of numbers.
